  • Support smoke-free places
  • Reduce youth smoking initiation
  • Educate on disease prevention
  • Reduce tobacco marketing
  • Help tobacco users get support
  • Develop smoke-free policies
  • Provide Tobacco Cessation Classes

Did You Know?

Commercial tobacco use kills more than 480,000 people every year and costs the Indian Health Service over $200 million dollars in medical services. In Oregon, over 1,250 American Indians will suffer from serious illnesses caused by tobacco use, and 64 will die. Smoking contributes to many diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and several cancers.
